83rd Annual Meeting of US Mayors Supports Maternal Health Innovations

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Square Roots, a life sciences company focused on pregnancy and the healthy formation of life, today announced that the first-ever maternal health resolution, “Combatting Maternal and Infant Mortality in the 21st Century,” was approved, and then adopted during the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) 83rd Annual Meeting in San Francisco.
“Our first step is purposely towards our Mayors and their civic leadership platforms to coordinate new policy and pilot new solutions that improve our mothers’ health.”
The resolution was proposed during the Children, Health and Human Services Committee breakout session during the USCM meeting. The resolution, drafted by Square Roots, was proposed by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Baltimore, MD and supported by ten addition Mayors including: Jim Schmitt, Green Bay, WI; Mick Cornett, Oklahoma City, OK; Elizabeth Kautz, Burnsville, MN; Michael Nutter, Philadelphia, PA; Bill Finch, Bridgeport, CT; Stephen K. Benjamin, Columbia, SC; Mark Stodola, Little Rock, AK; Kasim Reed, Atlanta, GA; Mitchell J. Landrieu, New Orleans, LA; and Bill de Blasio, New York, NY.
